Community

Community is more than the area that you live in ? your community is defined by your sphere of influence. Our community is broad across the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Industry.

Over the years we have gained knowledge not only through our own work – but from our interaction with other “professionals” in our industry. Our foundation is that when you give – you receive.

If you go to the WERC, CSCMP, RILA, ProMat, NA, or a host of other industry conferences you will see us there. Through our involvement in these organizations we contribute to the body of knowledge – and learn from the body of knowledge – that is gathered together in each of those events. In our past we were active participants in many different “exclusive” organizations – like the UTi Transpacific Forums, Expeditors Shippers Forums, Transplace Shippers Symposium, The Supply Chain Consortium (past board member), Manhattan Associates Momentum – the list goes on – where we freely gave and freely received knowledge and understanding.

We share our knowledge in different ways with the industry. We present – at the conferences of the many organizations listed above. We write articles in trade publications and blog on industry web sites. We write white papers for our clients to use internally, and for clients to use in their marketing materials. We create educational materials for Professional Organization Newsletters.

We are active on Linked-In. It is unusual if we have not posted an answer to a question or a discussion at least once a week. Our participation is to share knowledge – to help others along the educational journey. There other members that find value in what we have to say – based on the comments that we receive – and the number of “Best Answers” we get. Our motivation is not to answer the most – or to get the most “Bests” – our motivation is to add value to the discussion.

We also provide pro-bono work for a variety of causes. We have helped non-profits with their logistics needs. We also have helped and coached many of our fellow logistics professionals gain traction when they have found themselves “out” unexpectedly. In 2009 alone we coached and advised over 20 professionals as they worked through the process of “what’s next”.

We don’t do this for altruistic reasons. We are capitalists – and we do expect a return from our efforts. Some of our efforts are to help build awareness of our business and our talents so we can obtain paid work. Some of our efforts help build our clients business. And some of the effort is because – it is the right thing to do.
